The Dr. Pat Show: Talk Radio to Thrive By!: Stimulating the "Nerve of Compassion" to Move from Fear to Love: An Integrated East-West Approach with Dr. Anne Taylor
09/10/2011 02:30 pm PST
The emotion of fear emanates from feeling threatened--real or perceived from stress. Eastern traditions, such as Kundalini Yoga, have demonstrated that stimulating the vagus nerve, the nerve of compassion, moves one from a state of fear, anxiety, and depression to a state of blissful calm and coherence. When used in conjunction with Heart Rate Variability biofeedback, a Western approach, practitioners learn when they're "in the meditation zone" and actively stimulating the vagus nerve--naturally, safely, and effectively.
