Amy Brown

Amy Brown is a reading tutor and the Founder of Zoo Kids Reading. She designs lessons for her one-on-one students based on research. The lessons focus on phonics and comprehension rather than guessing and memorization.  These lessons have helped her students become successful readers. Amy is a certified reading specialist and elementary education teacher with a deep passion for literacy. She started Zoo Kids Reading because she saw that many students were not being taught in a way that met their needs and she wanted to make a difference in the lives of her students. 

 

Amy primarily works with elementary students, but she does work with students of all ages. She is dedicated to making learning to read as enjoyable as possible since it can be difficult for some students. She is excited to help as many students as possible improve their reading ability and change the nation's literacy rate. With experience teaching students on six continents, including two war zones, Amy is excited to share her knowledge and add more students to her list of success stories. 

 

Amy has also written many books and texts for her students to read. These are based on the phonics skills that her students need to practice. They are also written based on the interests and suggestions of her students. She has written mysteries, stories, and nonfiction books for her students. She has also written chapter books for her more advanced students. She is currently working on publishing these books and listing them on her website.
