Toshia Humphries

Toshia C. Humphries has a Masters in Counselor Education, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a specialization in Substance Abuse. She worked as a counselor intern, at Texas Tech University, for five years, facilitating counseling groups for Texas Tech University graduate students, mentor/life skills groups for Texas Tech student athletes, and support/life skills groups for adolescents and pre-adolescents, in area high schools and middle schools. She co-authored the Supportive Adolescent Services/Life Skills program curriculum, for The Center for the Study of Addition & Recovery, at Texas Tech University. She conceived, choreographs and directs Threads Locks & Rock; a performance art project, which takes place, annually, in October. Threads Locks & Rock is a creative channel she conceived in 2006, as an opportunity to showcase her life and love experiences, through dance, music and elaborate costumes and theatrics. It is merely one of her many artistic endeavors. Toshia currently hosts a blog site, entitled, "Confessions of a Psycho Bitch." She titled it as such, in reaction to the commonplace over-use of the label, and her opinion of why it is utilized; to silence women. She has written several objective articles, for the arts community, via Go Magazine, a weekly entertainment magazine, distributed by Lubbock-Avalance Journal. She is currently focusing her efforts on her creative endeavors, including writing, painting, revamping Threads Locks & Rock and booking and promoting shows for four Lubbock, Texas venues, as well as five local bands.
